Crime Victim Assistance Programs

Crime Victim Compensation Program – provides financial resources for victims of crime and helps victims with certain out-of-pocket costs from crime-related injuries.

Sexual Assault Examination Payment Program – pays for medical examinations that gather evidence of sex crimes and assure the physical health of the sex crime victim.

IowaVINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) – a statewide automated victim information and notification system that provides victims of crime with information and notification on the status of an incarcerated offender in all Iowa prison and jail facilities.

IPONDA (Iowa Protective Order Notification for Domestic Abuse Program) – a statewide automated victim information and notification system that provides domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment and stalking victims with information and notification on the service status of their protective or no contact orders, as well as notification when a protective or no contact order is about to expire.

Iowa Sex Offender Registrant Watch – provides 24 hour access to sex offender registrant information online, ability to verify a registered sex offender’s location and other characteristics including a photo, and be automatically notified by phone or email about changes in the location or identification information of a registered sex offender.

Fighting Human Trafficking – according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, after drug dealing, human trafficking is tied with arms dealing as the second-largest criminal industry in the world, generating about $32 billion each year.

Identity Theft Passport Program – provides victims of identity theft with an ID Passport that verifies a law enforcement report of Identity Theft has been filed and law enforcement officials deem that an ID Passport is warranted. A victim of identity theft may use the ID Passport to corroborate that their identity has been stolen to creditors and law enforcement.
